“How do we create one sustainable, on-brand line of jewellery boxes that fits the whole collection in just a few sizes?”
Sawah Packaging: One system for the whole collection. Instead of separate packaging for every product, we designed a signature line in just two sizes, with smart inserts that hold everything from chunky chains to fine necklaces, rings and bracelets. The design is inspired by the Sawah rice fields and the Dutch landscape, the two places where Buddha to Buddha has its roots. Made from foam based on potato starch: it breaks down naturally, can be recycled and looks a little different on every piece. Made in the Netherlands. Two sizes, one sustainable material and a lower cost per product, with the whole range fitting in, from the heaviest chain to the finest necklace, unmistakably Buddha to Buddha.

Different internal fittings hold the jewellery within the two box formats, from a coiled bracelet to a long chain.
A compact box and a long box cover the jewellery range, with the same material and surface detail across both.
The raised lines on the lid take their rhythm from rice fields, the sawah the collection is named after, carrying its story onto the packaging.
